Our House is on the Market!

Well, this is an interesting post to write and I’m not even sure where exactly to start. But… WE’RE MOVING!!! We’ve told our families and closest friends but now we wanted to share the good news with all of you! After officially buying our home only a few months ago (even though we’ve lived here for over 5 years already), we went ahead and listed it last Thursday! The most common response we get is “WHY are you selling a home you JUST BOUGHT?” This is a totally valid question and it’s kind of hard to answer because there are a lot of moving parts and reasons for us to move. And while this is all a whirlwind, and if you really think about it a little crazy, we are SO excited for this next season in our lives!

Now the biggest surprise is that we are not only selling our house, but we are building a home in Port St. Lucie, and relocating in a little over two months!!! Yep, you read that right! We are moving out of Miami and headed 2 hours north to a small town in Florida called Port St. Lucie and we are doing all this in two months!! But just the fact that we are building a home is something that still shocks me. I can’t believe I even get to say that we are “building a home”!!! Because in the grand scheme of things, many people don’t ever get to say that and we are so grateful that God has opened the doors and allowed us to do this!

I’m going to share a little bit about the why behind it all and tell the rest of the story as it unfolds. There are a few pieces of the puzzle that aren’t set in stone just yet, so you’ll just have to wait and follow along on this journey with us as it happens :)

First of all, when Vic and I got married five years ago, we moved into our townhouse and rented it from my father-in-law. We tried a few times to buy the house from him but it just didn’t work out for us. This past December, however, we finally tried again and we signed the contract to turn the title over to us and our little townhouse officially belonged to us! We were excited to finally say that this house was ours, but deep down inside we knew this wasn’t our “forever home”. We just had a feeling that God has something more in store for us. We LOVE this house, we really do, because this house has been our home for the past five years. We’ve made it our own and redecorated (more than once) to make this house ours. We brought Peanut home to this house and we’ve had some of our best memories happen right here. So it’s going to be hard to let it go, but we know there are greater things in store for us!

Vic and I also knew that we wanted to get out of Miami, eventually (we had no idea it would be so soon!) I was born and raised here, and while there are things that I love about this city, there were more reasons to leave than to stay. Miami is a big city, so the lifestyle here is fast-paced. Everyone is always rushing, always on the go, and always in a hurry to get somewhere (hence the insane traffic and terrible drivers) and Vic and I are just over it. Now that doesn’t mean we hate this city, or that we aren’t ever coming back, but we want a change in pace. We want to live in a small town where we can raise a family and live a more relaxed lifestyle at a much slower pace. Originally we were thinking we’d be moving in the next 5 years or so, maybe after having kids, and maybe to the Orlando or Tampa area, but we really never even considered Port St. Lucie. Funny thing is that God had other plans for us :)

So as not to bore you with too many details, I’ll shorten the story a bit! In March, we went to Port St. Lucie to shoot Aubrey and Todd’s wedding and the next day we went to look at model homes (which is something we do everywhere we go because for some reason we really like it!) We fell in love with a house (which is actually the same model of the home we are building right now!) and when we heard the price, it’s like a lightbulb went off. We did a lot of research (Google became our best friend) and we decided to take a few days in April and visit the city to really get a feel of what everyday life would be like. In summary, we didn’t want to come back home. We felt such a strong pull to this city that, only a month before, we would have never even thought about moving to, and the way doors began to open up for us, we knew it was God! We had such a peace in our hearts and we just know that this is what He wants for us! So many things have just fallen into place and the stories are crazy! And while there are so many moving parts and certain things that are still up in the air this is what we know for sure:

  • We will still be shooting weddings in Miami! It’s only a 2-hour drive down south (which for us is not a big deal) and we will continue to serve amazing couples down here for many years to come!
  • Whether we have a wedding or not, we will be coming down to Miami at least once a month to visit our families and friends. We can even go and come back the same day if we really wanted to.
  • We are moving to a bigger house with more land to raise a family in the future (and no, I’m not pregnant yet!)
  • If you ever hear this story in its entirety and we divulge all the details, you’ll totally understand how God led us exactly to this new place!
  • If we don’t sell this house, we aren’t going anywhere! So if you can share this blog post and listing with anyone and everyone you know we would REALLY appreciate it! We just need one person to fall in love with this house and buy it!
  • We are putting ALL our trust in God with this entire process! We are taking a huge step of faith and believing that if He led us here, He will back us up!
  • You can follow along on this journey with us, but the best thing you can do for us is to share this with everyone you know! You can check it out here and help us by sharing our Realtor.com Listing!

We are so excited for this journey and to have you all follow along on this wild ride! :) And a HUGE thank you to our realtor Nicole from Atlantic Shores Realty. We’re so glad we found someone we can trust to help us through this crazy process!
