Finding the perfect venue for your wedding day can be a daunting task. There are so many things to consider and decide so that it ends up being perfect for your big day. A friend of mine recently got engaged and I couldn’t be happier for her! She has begun tackling the long process that is finding the perfect venue for her wedding in April. I guess you could say she inspired this post because, in talking to her, I was reminded what a HUGE part of a wedding day the venue actually is.
There are many deciding factors that can play a role in choosing a location. The first and most important is you have to consider your budget and how much you are willing to spend. Another factor is the date. Are you willing to move your wedding date for a venue you love, or will you change location because you’re set on a certain date? Many times it is the perfect location but they may not have the date available or it may be over your budget. These are some things to think about and something you must be patient with. Another thing I personally recommend is to shop around. Look at all different venues to see which one suits you the best. Vic and I visited LOTS of locations before deciding on our venue.
Another thing to think about is whether or not you are having the ceremony and reception in one location or are your guests going to have to travel? If you want to have the ceremony in a church, you should try not to be more than 20-25 minutes away from the ceremony site. Do you want your wedding to be local or maybe travel a little bit to find a nicer location? For example, here in the Kendall area of Miami, the venues may not be what you want. But once you either drive down to Key West or up to Miami Beach or even Pembroke Pines, you may find the perfect location.
Yes, it is a lot of work to find the perfect venue. Between calling and visiting locations it may take even up to a month or more to find the place that is just right. But once you find that venue that takes your breathe away and makes you happy, it’s all smooth sailings from there!
Happy Hump Day :)
