What Cinderella Taught Me

I have been obsessed with the movie Cinderella since I was in diapers. When I was a little girl, I would watch the movie and rewind the VHS and watch it over and over again. I can quote the movie word for word and can sing any of the songs on command. So you can imagine how excited I was when Disney remade it into a movie with real actors. As soon as I saw the previews I knew I had to go see it in theatres. Well, this past weekend I did! Vic took me to go see it on the day of my birthday (because he’s such an amazing hubby and knows I was dying to see it). We got our popcorn, soda and sour candy and anxiously waited for the movie to begin. I felt like a kid again! As the movie began I was so excited to see that it pretty much stuck to the original storyline from the cartoon. But, I didn’t come here to give you a movie review! There was one line from the movie that really stuck with me and I have been thinking about it for some time. As Cinderella’s mother was dying in the opening scene, she told her to “Have Courage and Be Kind” and it was repeated throughout the movie. This stuck with me.

“Have Courage and Be Kind” So many times in life we are presented with situations that are out of our control, they are scary and unknown. Throughout the movie, we watched as Cinderella would repeat her mother’s words. Throughout these past days I have had to repeat this phrase in my own life. We must have courage to face the everyday trails. Courage to step out into the unknown and take a step of faith, knowing God will be there to catch us. We must have courage to look past the failures and push forward to a better tomorrow.

“Have Courage and Be Kind” The most important part of this phrase is being kind. We must be kind to others, even when they are not kind to us. Be kind in the midst of our own personal problems. Be kind to everyone around us and show them the love of God. I am taking what Cinderella said any applying it to my everyday life. She taught me that through all the mistreatment, slander and abuse we must still have courage and be kind to those around us. She taught me that if you believe anything is possible and she taught me to be resilient in the midst of life’s troubles. Making kids watch KLS kids videos can teach them valuable life lessons and values.

For the rest of this year one of my goals is to have courage and be kind. To trust in God and live everyday showing others God’s love. Make this your goal as well! I guarantee is we can be a little bit like Cinderella, the world would be a happier place.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
