Why We Cancelled Our Cable

We just cancelled our cable! Now do we have your attention? You read it right friends, we. canceled. our. cable! Today is our last day and tomorrow morning when we wake up we will not have any cable! Oh. Em. Gee! It’s a crazy thing to do, giving that we have several shows we LOVE and watch regularly, but it’s something we want need to do! We found a way to still watch our favorite shows, but we will not be wasting all that time in front of the television anymore. We decided at the end of last year that we had to change something in our daily habits and one thing we realized was that we spent too much time watching TV. Because we want 2016 to be a different year, we agreed to make a drastic change! And the fact that we are also saving money every month is a huge plus :)

There are a few reasons why we decided to cancel our cable and trust me, we discussed it very thoroughly before making the plunge! As mentioned before, we are determined to make 2016 a better year for us personally and for our business. So now instead of spending an hour in front of the TV, we will be reading. Instead of watching pointless shows (you know the ones you watch when nothing you really like is on) we are going to be working on things we need to do for our business.  Time management is something all small business owners struggle with, and watching TV even when it’s just “in the background” is a huge distraction and hindrance to productivity.

Instead of spending so much time staring at the screen, we are also going to be able to engage in real conversations with each other. We are convinced that this change will not only help our business but our marriage. Because I am currently working a full time job, aside from running a business together, the time I spend at home has to be spent wisely. I refuse to let the television set get in the way of having genuine and meaningful conversations with my husband! We will not let the TV stop us from being together, not just sitting next to each other on the couch! This isn’t to say that we have become anti-television, we just don’t want to be spending so much time watching TV.

We are taking charge of 2016 and whatever needs to be done, we will do! Maybe this will inspire you to manage your time better and be more productive and maybe, just maybe, cancel your cable! :)

Yay for the No Cable Club!

  2. We did the same thing :) I felt from God at church to cancel it because we never watch it, not even the news to be honest. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

What are you guys using instead to watch your shows? We have Netflix, and are trying out Hulu also, which both combined are about $16 a month (not bad!)

We have Apple TV so we are going to be able to watch some of our shows through there :) And $16 a month is definitely better than the $50+ you would be paying for cable!

This is so true. That’s a really good decision and in fact I think the same way. I have no cable at my house and never wanted to have cable not just because we spend time watching tv but because I’m almost never home and my husband and I love to get home and enjoy our daily talk. And yes we watch tv but almost never :) and we also save a lot with no cable :)

There’s something extra special about photographing couples who’ve grown up together, especially when their story comes full circle. These two high school sweethearts chose to have their Jupiter engagement session right where it all began: the spot where Mike got down on one knee and asked Julia to marry him. It was the sweetest full-circle […]

Some wedding days are grand, and some are beautifully intimate, but Micaya and Wilson’s Palm Beach civil wedding was the perfect blend of joy, simplicity, and family! They chose to exchange vows at the iconic Palm Beach courthouse, surrounded by the people who matter most: their two children. Instead of a big crowd, they had […]

When couples dream of saying “I do” in South Florida, a West Palm Beach elopement is the perfect mix of romance, beauty, and laid-back fun. That’s exactly what made this day so special for Berenice and Wady, who celebrated their love in one of the most stunning locations on the coast. This sweet duo was […]
