Wedding Wednesday: Flowers!

For those of you that don’t know me, I am OBSESSED with flowers! I think they are one of the most important aspects of any wedding. They give life and can be a great reflection of your wedding colors. Our wedding colors were inspired by one of my favorite flowers: the plum and turquoise orchid. Flowers can change the overall look of a wedding and also reflect your theme and style. What matters is that YOU love all the aspects of your wedding and whatever flowers you chose.

There are many different areas in your wedding in which you can use flowers. Obviously one of the most important is bridal bouquets, DUH :) Your bridal bouquet is the center piece of all the flowers in your wedding. It is also the most photographed arrangement of your big day. Your bouquet should have the flowers that match with your wedding colors and show your personal style. But don’t forget to give your bridesmaids gorgeous bouquets too!

Another thing to consider when choosing the flowers for your big day is during what season your wedding is taking place. If you live in a cold climate and are having a winter wedding, you may experience some trouble finding fresh hydrangeas. Try to find flowers that are in bloom during the time of your wedding. If you live somewhere that the climate is the same year-round, like Miami, then consider yourself lucky! I would also suggest using flowers that coincide with the season. For example, in spring you can use peonies or calla lilies, which are a good representation of that season.

Decide from the beginning if flowers are an important aspect of your wedding or not. Some brides don’t care for flowers; while others, like yours truly, couldn’t imagine their special day without a plethora of flowers. If you do decide on flowers, pick ones that you love and are going to make you happy. I also recommend picking a central flower (for example peonies) as well as other flowers that will compliment it and match your color palette.

Whatever flowers you decide on, you should also use in every other area of your wedding. Here are a few areas you can consider placing flowers…

-table centerpieces

-cake table

-guestbook table

-ceremony space

-bride and grooms table

At the end of the day, it is all about what you will look back on many years from now and still love  :)

There’s something extra special about photographing couples who’ve grown up together, especially when their story comes full circle. These two high school sweethearts chose to have their Jupiter engagement session right where it all began: the spot where Mike got down on one knee and asked Julia to marry him. It was the sweetest full-circle […]
