Destination Wedding at the Westin Savannah Harbor | A Full-Circle Love Story in Savannah, Georgia
There is something so special about being invited back into a couple’s story. When we first met Gill and Ryan, it was for their proposal in 2024. The nerves, the anticipation, the “she has no idea” texts, we were there for all of it with Ryan. So when they reached out and asked us to photograph their destination wedding in Savannah, it felt like the biggest honor! And their wedding at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa was nothing short of magical. The morning started calm, the kind of calm that sets the tone for the whole day. The bridal suite overlooked the water, and soft natural light poured through the windows (photographer heaven). There was laughter, champagne, writing of vows, and the sweetest moments with moms and bridesmaids!
One thing we loved most? Nothing felt rushed. When a wedding day feels relaxed, you can see it in the photos; the smiles are relaxed, the emotions are real, and the energy is just different! Gill and Ryan’s ceremony took place overlooking the Savannah River, with the historic skyline in the distance. (With a special appearance of a GIANT barge that passed by just as the ceremony was getting started!) The reception space at The Westin Savannah Harbor transformed beautifully. Soft romantic florals, warm candlelight, and a dance floor that stayed packed all night long thanks to their amazing band. But what made it unforgettable wasn’t just the design, it was the people there to celebrate Gill and Ryan! Destination weddings have this built-in intimacy. Guests travel, they stay together, they explore the city, and by the time the wedding day arrives, everyone feels connected. The energy is unmatched!
If you ask us what our favorite part was, it wasn’t just the venue or the golden hour portraits (I mean those were STUNNING though). It was being trusted again! There is something incredibly meaningful about couples, like Gill and Ryan, who invite us into multiple milestones of their lives. It’s never “just another wedding.” It’s their story and we don’t take that lightly. Watching them say their vows in Savannah after capturing their proposal was a reminder of why we do this in the first place. And this day? It was one we’ll never forget. We’re thrilled to be sharing more of Gill and Ryan’s Westin Savannah Harbor wedding with you all today!
And while the people and emotions will always be the heart of a wedding, the venue quietly sets the tone for everything around them. A beautiful space gives the couple room to settle into the day, welcome their guests, and let each part of the celebration unfold without feeling forced. From the ceremony to cocktail hour and the reception that follows, having a venue that fits the vision makes those transitions feel effortless. That’s where a thoughtfully planned space such as White Oak Events can become more than just a backdrop—it can give the entire celebration its own sense of place and personality.
Venue rental is also about creating enough flexibility for the day to feel like yours. Couples want a setting where dinner can turn into dancing, where guests can linger over conversations, and where there’s still room for those little moments that no one planned but everyone remembers. When the space works naturally with the flow of the celebration, photographers can capture those candid interactions, vendors can do their jobs without getting in the way, and the couple can simply enjoy being present. After all, the best wedding days are rarely the ones that feel perfectly choreographed; they’re the ones where everything seems to fall into place.

Gill and Ryan, there are truly no words to say thank you for allowing us to capture your love! it was such a joy to be a part of your big day and we cannot express how much we loved your wedding. Excited to see you guys step into this new season as husband and wife! Welcome to the married club :)
