We always say that engagement session are our favorite! It’s an amazing practice for the wedding day and gives you an excuse to dress up and spend some time with your honey! Engagement sessions allow for more freedom and fun than a wedding day because you’re on a time crunch on the big day. You can truly show your personalities and we, as photographers, can capture the love and connection between a couple!

After choosing a location, the first step in preparing for your engagement session is to choose the outfits you want to wear. You should wear something you feel beautiful in but isn’t too fussy. Same for the groom, something he feels handsome in but isn’t too tight or uncomfortable. We always recommend 2 outfits as well, usually one thats a bit more dressy and one that’s more casual. One of the most important things when you prepare for your session is to make sure that you arrive to the location on time the day of. There’s nothing like the look that natural light gives, so if you’re late half an hour to your session, then that is a half hour less of sunlight for your images. Unfortunately, the sun waits for no one!

Here in Miami, it get hot! Almost the entire year you are guaranteed heat. We always tell our clients to bring something to wipe away the sweat because #thestruggleisreal. We also recommend having powder and lip gloss for the ladies to touch up. And bringing a bottle of water is always a good idea. Another thing we recommend for the ladies is to bring an extra pair of sandals or flats to walk in between spots during the shoot.

And the last thing you should do to prepare for an engagement session is to have fun! The nerves may build up before a session, but always remember that the goal is for you to relax and have the best experience possible! Don’t stress about everything being perfect and instead take in the moment and enjoy it with the one you love! :)
