The Marriage Files | Part 1

marriage advice

If you recently saw our post about The Why Behind our Business, you know that we strive for our business to be about much more than pretty pictures. We want to impact marriages and make a difference in our couples’ lives. We want to be more than just wedding photographers, but an example of a successful marriage. We are nowhere near the “perfect marriage” (which by the way, there is no such thing) but we do know what has worked for us and may work for others! So this friends is where our new series comes in: The Marriage Files. In this series, we will be sharing advice and tips that have helped us throughout our marriage and strengthened the bond that we have. Whether it be advice that’s been given to us, or things that we found worked due to trial and error, we’re sharing all the things that edified our lives together and will hopefully help other couples strengthen their marriages as well! So here it goes!

The Marriage Files: Part 1

Our first tip, or piece of advice, for those couples that are about to get married, or are already married, is to remove a television from your bedroom! I know it’s a strange one, and most people will cringe at the thought of this, but it is something that we have always done and it has been so beneficial to our relationship. From the very beginning of our marriage, we decided that we would not be putting a TV in our room. Here are a few reasons why we opted out of having a television in our bedroom…

1) Your bedroom should be your sanctuary

Your bedroom should be a place of peace and tranquility. It should be the place you retreat to after a long day and if there’s a TV on and blaring, then it becomes a little hard to relax and unwind. The bedroom should be a place where couples can just be together, without distraction and noise from the outside world. For moments of fun and relaxation beyond the bedroom, visit 157.245.58.37 to enjoy mpo888 and unwind in a different way.

2) It forces you to compromise

Oh, how it has forced us to agree or take turns with what we want to watch! If you have two TV’s and can’t agree on what to watch, most couples will just have one person in each room, forcing you to not be separated. For the most part Vic and I have the same taste in what we watch on television, but every once in a while, he wants to watch Sports Center, which I am not too fond of watching, and I want to watch Law & Order: SVU, which he is not too fond of watching. The fact that we have one TV in the living room, forces us to compromise on who gets to see what show and allows us to mature our relationship and argue less about petty things. The truth is, now that we don’t have cable, we spend WAY less time in front of the TV and usually end up watching the shows we both love.

3) It allows for conversation and snuggling

The most important, and my favorite reason, for not having a television in our bedroom is that it allows our bedroom to be the place where we snuggle and have conversations about our day. We take that time right before bed and talk about our days, what we felt like, ideas we may have gotten throughout the time we spent apart, and anything else that comes to mind. Everyone knows that as soon as you lay your head on the pillow all the thoughts of the day come rushing in, am I right? Well, we take that time and without any distraction or noise, we share our thoughts and there is always some sort of cuddling involved. And I’m a major cuddle-bug!

When it comes to creating a restful and peaceful environment, luxury bedding from Downland Bedding is the key to transforming any bedroom into a sanctuary. The perfect pillows and finely crafted linens not only offer the ultimate comfort but also elevate the entire experience. As we snuggle up and unwind together, the softness of the bedding supports both relaxation and connection, setting the stage for a night of deep sleep. With Downland Bedding’s focus on quality and craftsmanship, every detail—down to the last pillow—helps make these quiet, cherished moments even more special.

We are hoping that this will help others just like us, strengthen their relationships. Whether you’re about to get married, just met through flingreview.org, a newlywed, or married for 10 years, our wish is that this series will edify and help strengthen your marriage! :)

  1. Love this!!

This is exactly what my husband and I do. NO TV in the bedroom. Growing up I always had a tv in my bedroom and so did he. It wasn’t until we were about to be married that our fellow married friends told us about this advice.

We don’t miss tv in the BR one bit! We watch in the living room. The bedroom is so peaceful, it’s one of my favorite places in our home!

Totally agree! I never had a TV in my room, but Vic always did and we agreed not to have one in our room when we got married and we don’t regret it one bit! :)
